you've got that right there bebehs. i am feeling so very appreciated after Monday ^^
you see i was observed last monday. i was still coping with the monday blues when my supervisor suddenly decided its prime time for him to pay us a visit and observe us. its great and all that he wants to see how we're doing, but he could not have picked a more wrong time to do that. i was prepared for my class, but i was still lacking energy. so yeah.
i understand it should not be an excuse, tapi i was really tired that day. xtahu la. tired and sleepy. i was never that lethargic and last monday was a very bad day to be observed. just so you know the class is at 1305 and ends at 1415, which is also the perfectest of the perfect time to find students dozing off. i get complete sayurs in these periods. i think as a human being i am allowed to have my bad days too.
so yeah. notified 2 hours prior i was slightly luckier than my friend who got observed right away. she haven't even have her lesson plan printed or written properly then. she had less than 10 minutes to prepare before being observed. i got 2 hours so thats great.
so the thing was he came into the class. to avoid students dozing off i conducted a jigsaw reading activity. at least this way they won't be passively reading. the students were more awake than i could remember them ever to be. they were participating, they were talking, they were in groups. but the response i heard from my supervisor was...not exactly the best.
at the end of the class, he wanted me to do more grammar lessons. i think he has a point, but he who advised me against doing anything dry was telling me to tell students to analyze the tenses used in the article. so yeah he kinda contradicted himself but i told him my stand. i explained why i wanted them to make a poster instead of continuing to drill them with tenses. by making posters, they would be discussing, they were asking me how to say a certain word, is their grammar correct etc. they are learning the language. maybe x sehebat if i teach grammar directly, but they were still getting it and they were more active like that.
tapi betullah. my lesson objective was not the production of the poster. i get where he was coming from.
but i don't get why he would judge me saying if he were a student he wouldn't want to be in my class. shit la encik. he does get paid to judge my teaching but that was VERY demotivating to hear. and he said that in the manner that a teacher nearby pun dengar. friends' faces were like 'you cant be serioussss' tapi itulah. i yawned still because i was tired.
so yeah. demotivating. very, very demotivating. but yeah i took that as a challenge. i felt that i have to prove myself that i am not that boring (maybe sometimes, but not to that extent?). i know my students better than him and therefore i know when students shows interest in what i teach. they were not sayur pun that day and they had no idea there was a man observing the class. so yeah. they were awake because they stayed awake.
tapi xpe.because of that i worked a bit harder la.
and on wednesday i received quite a positive feedback from my student. i asked them if its okay to extend time English and ambik period PJ for half an hour. and Adam, the boy was so sweeeeeeettt he was like 'its okay teacher, because its you'. boleh x you become anymore sweeter than that? XD
and today was the best. a student of mine had a headache so she wanted to be excused from the class. another girl wanted to accompany her to go to the sick bay but she came running back to the class. then the biggest motivation came. the sick girl actually came back and asked me if its okay if she stays. i was like, but i thought u are not feeling well? and she went "x apa. saya xnak tinggal kelas teacher'.
rasa nak nangis kot. kembang gila. sumpah.
thank you god for blessing me with such wonderful people.
